Resin Cat Head Sculpture 17cm

A stylised cat's head, seventeen centimetres tall and sixteen across, cast in resin and finished smooth enough that the form reads as a single unbroken shape. The features are pared right back to the essentials, which is what keeps it on the right side of the line between sculpture and novelty: there is nothing cute about it, and on a shelf beside books or ceramics it holds its own as an object.

Five colours are offered and each behaves differently. Green and blue are the cooler, quieter choices and sit well in a room that already has a lot going on. Gold catches whatever light is in the room and works as a small bright point on a dark shelf. Red and purple are the boldest, best used singly against a plain background rather than grouped with other coloured pieces.

At five hundred grams it has enough weight to stay put on a shelf, a desk, a mantelpiece or a hall table without needing anything under it. Resin takes a knock better than ceramic but scratches more easily, so dust it with a soft dry cloth rather than anything abrasive and keep household cleaners away from the finish.
