Retro Industrial Lantern Wall Light

Lantern-form wall lights borrow their shape from station platforms and workshop yards, and the style survives the move indoors well. Formed in metal, it reads as a caged lantern bracketed off the wall, with enough weight to hold a bare stretch of plaster. Two cage designs are offered, Design A and Design B, so a pair can be matched down a corridor or deliberately mixed. It suits hallways, kitchens and circulation spaces where a table lamp would only get in the way.

The fitting runs on a 220-240V supply and is hardwired rather than plugged in, and it is CE marked. Mounting hardware is supplied with the lantern. A standard LED bulb is not included, which lets you choose the cap type and brightness that suits the room. Whatever you fit, it must be a lamp of 220-240V UK specification, and the fitting is intended for dry indoor locations only, not porches, bathrooms or anywhere exposed to damp.

Because the light is hardwired, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. The circuit must be isolated at the consumer unit before any work starts, and the wall should be checked for buried pipes and cables before drilling. Beyond that, ownership is undemanding - dust the cage occasionally and let the metal finish age as it likes. Mounted at head height, a pair throws light up and down the wall and gives a plain corridor a rhythm it lacked.
