Retro Padded Ottoman Stool

A small upholstered stool on splayed wooden legs, thirty centimetres square and available in two heights. The lower version at twenty-six centimetres works as a footstool in front of a chair or as extra seating for a child; the taller at thirty-four is a genuine occasional seat, and a useful thing to have by a front door for putting shoes on. The seat is generously padded.

Eight colours are offered across a soft pastel range: rose red, grey, blue, pink, beige, yellow, green and lilac. The fabric is a plush linen weave, which holds colour well and has enough texture to stop the pastels looking flat. Because the stool is small, a stronger colour works here in a way it would not on a sofa, so it is a low-risk way to bring one into a room.

The legs are solid wood with non-slip feet, which matters on a hard floor where a light stool would otherwise slide when someone sits down. Vacuum the fabric with an upholstery attachment and spot clean marks rather than soaking the seat. This is an occasional stool rather than a step stool, so do not stand on it, and keep children supervised if they are using it as a seat.
