RGB Glowing Garden Ball Light

A simple sphere is one of the few garden objects that works equally well lit and unlit. By day this reads as a smooth white ball among planting; after dark it becomes a soft globe of colour, dialled through the spectrum by remote or left on a slow fade. Four diameters mean you can use one as a full stop at the end of a border or group three at different sizes for something closer to a composition.

The shell is a thick waterproof polyethylene that diffuses the LED evenly with no hot spot, and it is sealed well enough to be left out in rain or sat at the edge of a pool or pond. It runs on an internal rechargeable battery rather than a mains cable, so it can be moved around the garden freely and brought indoors for a party without any rewiring.

Charge it fully before the first use and top it up between long evenings. Around water, keep it on the surround rather than floating it, and never leave children unsupervised near a pond, pool or water feature. Wipe the shell with a damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners, which will dull the diffusion. Stored somewhere dry over winter, the battery will hold its capacity far better into a second season.
