The Riva Ribbed Glass Ceiling Light sits close to the ceiling in a low drum of fluted clear glass, ringed top and bottom by a polished nickel band. The ribbing runs vertically around the whole shade, so light passing through it breaks into fine bright lines instead of one flat glare. At 35.7 cm across and 16.5 cm deep it covers a good spread of ceiling without hanging down into the room.

Clear fluted glass keeps the fitting visually light, letting wall colour and ceiling height read through it rather than blocking them. The polished nickel frame holds a cool silver tone that works alongside chrome taps, mirror frames and pale timber, and the open drum throws light onto the ceiling above as well as the floor below. Flush mounting keeps head height clear, which matters in bedrooms, landings and entrance halls where a hanging pendant gets in the way.
