Riverstone Solar Rock Light

Some gardens do not want a row of obvious lamps down the path. This one hides the fitting inside what looks like a weathered river stone, mottled grey and irregular enough to sit convincingly in a rockery, a gravel bed or the edge of a border. By day you would walk past it; by night a soft glow lifts out of the surface and marks the ground without any visible hardware.

The solar cell is set into the top face and is barely noticeable from standing height. It charges while the sun is up and switches the light on automatically at dusk, giving roughly eight hours of illumination through the evening. Because it needs no cable, you can place it exactly where the path bends or where a step needs marking, then move it if the planting grows over.

The shell is moulded from resin over a plastic core and rated IP65, so heavy rain, frost and summer heat leave it alone. It is heavy enough not to shift in wind but light enough to reposition with one hand when the planting changes. Rinse the top occasionally so the panel keeps its charge through the duller months, and it will go on marking the same corner of the garden for seasons.
