Rodo Gold Linear Wall Light

The Rodo is an exercise in restraint: a single slender rod of light crossing a small round backplate and extending evenly to either side. In its gold finish it reads as a fine brass line across the wall by day, and becomes a clean, continuous band of warm light after dark. There is no shade and no visible bulb to break the line at any point along it.

The rod measures 68 cm long and 5 cm high, and draws around 12 watts. The body is metal, with metal, aluminium and acrylic making up the rest of the build. The LEDs are fully integrated along the rod and are not replaceable, with an average rated life of 50,000 hours. The light temperature is a warm white 3000K, which keeps the wash soft rather than clinical.

It is a natural pick for above a bedhead, along a hallway, over artwork or beside a dressing area, anywhere a conventional sconce would feel too busy. Mounted horizontally it washes the wall up and down; turned vertical it works neatly beside a mirror. The cable route is worth planning before the backplate is fixed. Dust the rod with a dry cloth to keep the output even.
