Sailboat Horizon Wall Clock

A wide landscape-format clock built around a sailboat on an open horizon, with the dial set into the composition rather than dropped on top of it. The panel measures 30 by 50cm and the working face is 17cm across, so it reads first as a piece of wall art and second as a timepiece. Cut from lightweight acrylic with metal hands and fittings.

The movement is a silent sweep, which suits the long wall of a living room or a hallway where a ticking clock would carry. Because the panel is acrylic rather than glass it is light for its size, so it hangs on a single fixing without needing a wall plug rated for anything heavier, and it will not shatter if it is knocked while being positioned.

The nautical subject sits well in a coastal or a plain white room, and the horizontal format is useful above a sideboard or a run of low shelving where a round clock leaves too much empty wall on either side. Check for concealed pipes and cables before drilling. Wipe the acrylic with a soft dry cloth; solvent cleaners will haze the surface permanently. The panel arrives with a protective film on the acrylic which should be peeled off before the clock goes up, or the finish will look dull from the moment it is hung.
