Satin Sheen Duvet Cover Set

Satin bedding photographs well and, more usefully, feels cool against the skin on a warm night. The finish comes from the weave rather than a coating, so the sheen survives washing and the fabric keeps its slip. This set is made from acetate fibre, which gives a closer approximation of real silk than polyester satin manages, at a fraction of the price.

Eight colours are offered and they cover a wide range of moods. White and silver are the two neutrals and read as hotel bedding. Gold and red are the richest and suit a darker room with heavy curtains. Sky blue, navy and olive green are the calmest, and pink is the softest. All eight have the same high sheen, so the colour is what changes rather than the finish.

Each set includes a duvet cover and two matching pillowcases in three sizes: 150 x 200cm for a double, 180 x 220cm for a king and 200 x 230cm for a super king. Because satin is slippery, a fitted sheet in the same fabric is worth adding if you want the bed to stay made. Hand wash or machine wash at up to thirty degrees and tumble dry on a low setting only; high heat will permanently flatten the sheen.
