Scribble Metal Wall Coat Rack 33cm

A coat rack drawn as one continuous scribble. The metal rod loops back on itself half a dozen times, and every loop that stands proud of the wall works as a hook, so there is no row of identical pegs and no obvious front or back to the design. Hung on its own in a narrow hallway it reads as wall art that happens to be useful, which is exactly the point.

It measures 33cm across and stands 6.3cm off the wall, which is deep enough for coats, bags, caps, dog leads and scarves without any of them fouling the doorway. Two finishes are offered, black and white, and both are painted rather than plated. In a small entrance, a single rack mounted at shoulder height takes the daily load; in a bedroom it works well beside a wardrobe for the clothes that never quite get put away.

Screws are supplied, but choose a plug to suit your wall and fix into something solid - plasterboard alone will not hold a loaded coat rack. Spread the weight across both fixing points and hang heavier items on the loops closest to the screws. Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth; avoid abrasive creams, which will scratch a painted finish. Not a step, a handrail or a grab rail, and not designed to bear body weight.
