Silent Sweep Schoolhouse Wall Clock 30cm

A clock you can read from the far side of the room, without hearing it from the near side. The dial is built up in three dimensions, with raised markers standing proud of the backing plate so they throw a small shadow and stay crisp even in low afternoon light. The result is far easier on the eye than a printed face, and it gives an otherwise plain 30cm circle a bit of depth and craft.

Eight designs are available, ranging from stark two-tone numerals through to softer, more decorative treatments, so the same reliable clock can suit a utility room, a home office or a child's study without looking out of place. The 30cm diameter is the sweet spot for a functional clock: big enough to read at a glance across a kitchen or landing, small enough that it does not take over a wall or fight with pictures hung nearby.

The movement is an imported silent sweep quartz, which means no ticking at all. That matters more than people expect in a bedroom or a room where someone is working or studying. The casing is moulded ABS with a protective front, which keeps the weight down and makes it straightforward to hang on a single screw or picture hook. One AA battery runs it, and it is not supplied. Dust the face occasionally with a dry, soft cloth.
