A small bedside light moulded in soft BPA-free silicone in the shape of a pear or a mango, with the stalk and leaf picked out on top. The silicone gives slightly under a hand and diffuses the light from inside, so the whole body glows rather than showing a bright point through a shell. It stands 15 centimetres tall on a 10 by 10 centimetre footprint and weighs 230 grams.
A touch on the body cycles the light through seven colours and steps the brightness, so it can be set low as a sleep light or brighter for reading a page. Power comes from a built-in rechargeable cell charged over USB, so there is no mains lead and no plug to route past a bed. On the lowest setting a full charge lasts several nights. Choose the pear or the mango.
This is a decorative light and not a toy. Keep it out of reach of babies and toddlers, and site it where it cannot be pulled down onto a cot or a bed. The cell is sealed into the body, so do not pierce, crush, dismantle or burn it, charge it only with a sound USB lead, and leave it uncovered while charging so it can shed heat. Wipe the silicone with a damp cloth, keep the port dry, and never immerse it.
