Solar Deck and Post Lights, Pair

Two solar lights arrive as a set, ready to go onto a fence post, a deck rail or an outside wall without a single length of cable being run. Each unit carries its own monocrystalline panel and an 800mAh cell, so the pair charge independently through the day and bring themselves on as the light drops. An automatic dusk-to-dawn sensor handles the timing, which means there is no timer to programme and no switch to remember on the way indoors.

Four to six hours of decent charge returns roughly eight to twelve hours of warm white light, comfortably covering an evening outdoors and the walk from the gate to the front door. The housing is moulded ABS with an IP65 rating, so rain and spray are taken in their stride through a British autumn. Mounting hardware is included, the pack is supplied as two lights, and fitting is a matter of choosing a spot and marking your holes.

Position them at roughly matching heights either side of a step, a gate or a garage door for even coverage, and keep the panels clear of overhanging leaves so the daily charge is not shaded out. An occasional wipe over the panel through winter keeps the surface working properly. A careful look at the wall before you drill is time well spent, and the notes below cover that along with recycling the built-in batteries once the lights reach the end of their working life.
