Solara Wooden Tripod Table Lamp

The tripod lamp is one of those shapes that has never really gone out of fashion, and this is a well-judged version of it: three slim wooden legs splayed from a central point, carrying a plain round fabric shade. Nothing about it is fussy. The wood is left with its grain visible and the shade is unpatterned, so the lamp gives a room warmth and a bit of structure without asking for attention.

The fabric shade diffuses the bulb into a soft, even light that falls downward onto a bedside book and outward into the room, which is exactly what a bedside or side-table lamp should do. The open legs keep the base visually light, so it does not crowd a small console or a narrow bedside table the way a solid ceramic base can.

It works in a bedroom, beside a sofa, on a hall console, or on a desk where a task lamp would feel too clinical. Pair two either side of a bed for symmetry. The lamp plugs into a standard socket and takes a screw-fit bulb, not included; a warm-toned LED suits the shade best.
