Sonnet Layered Glass Wall Sconce

The Sonnet is a shallow glass disc mounted flat against the wall, with a second smaller disc layered over the first. Light escapes around the join as well as through the coloured glass, so the fitting has two distinct brightnesses at once: a soft halo at the edge and a deeper glow at the centre. It is 15cm deep, which keeps it clear of a passing shoulder in a hallway.

Six colours are offered and they change the character completely. Olive green and bottle green are muted and read almost as ceramic when unlit. Orange and pink are unapologetically mid-century. White is the safe choice for a bedside pair, and frosted green sits between the two ends. The 25cm size suits a bedside or a hallway; the 35cm is a statement over a sideboard or a stairwell. A matched pair either side of a bed is the most common arrangement, and at the 25cm size they sit comfortably above a low headboard.

It uses a G9 bulb, which is not supplied, so you choose the brightness and colour temperature to suit the room. The mounting plate is 12cm across and the fitting is hardwired, so it needs an existing wall point or a new one run in. It is rated IP20 for dry rooms only, and assembly is required before mounting.
