Sora Persian Medallion Velvet Rug

The Sora takes the classic Persian medallion layout and softens it for a contemporary British interior. A turquoise-teal lobed medallion sits at the centre of a cream-ivory field, surrounded by dense floral scrollwork in coral pink, crimson and olive, and framed by a scalloped crimson cartouche. A deep navy-aubergine border carries larger blossoms and palmettes around the whole of the field, so the drawing has a clear edge to it.

That border is finished with fine cream and crimson guard bands and a slim striped outer edge. The pattern is carried on a short, dense crystal-velvet-style pile laid over a felt body. Because the pile sits low and flat rather than shaggy, the fine linework in the border and the detail inside the medallion stay crisp underfoot, and the rug holds its shape in daily use instead of rucking up.

Underneath, a full polyvinyl chloride backing grips hard floors: on wood, tile or laminate it helps stop the rug creeping away as people walk across it. It suits a living room, bedroom, dining room or hallway, and the low pile means doors clear it and dining chairs pass over it easily. Vacuum gently, blot spills rather than scrubbing them, and dry the rug flat and away from direct heat.
