Sovna Weighted Sherpa Blanket

A weighted blanket is a heavy one, and the engineering is in how the weight is held still. This is a seven-layer build: 220 gsm flannel on the outside, sherpa fleece on both faces, and fine glass beads between 0.8 and 1mm quilted into pockets so the filling cannot migrate to one end. The layers are made to stay quiet, which many weighted blankets are not.

Two sizes and two weights are offered. The 135 by 200cm suits a single bed or one person on a sofa; the 150 by 200cm covers a double. Weights of 7kg and 9kg are available, and the usual guide is to pick something in the region of eight to twelve per cent of body weight. Colours are a mid grey and a darker anthracite. Because the weight is spread evenly rather than concentrated, the larger size does not feel heavier across the shoulders than the smaller one at the same weight.

It is a heavy textile product and nothing more: no medical, therapeutic or sleep function is claimed. Because of the weight, it is not suitable for young children, or for anyone who could not push it off themselves unaided, and it should never be used on or near a baby. Follow the care label; a blanket this heavy usually needs a commercial machine.
