Square Stone-Effect Wall Clock

Square clocks are less common than round ones and they hang differently, sitting comfortably in a run of framed pictures where a circle would break the line. This one has a printed stone-effect face in a resin body, three centimetres deep, with a clean square outline and no visible bezel, so it reads as a flat panel on the wall rather than an object stuck to it.

The face is high-definition printed rather than moulded, which keeps the stone texture sharp right to the edges and avoids the blurry look that cheaper transfer finishes produce. The hands are slim and dark against the pale ground, which matters on a face that has visual texture of its own. The overall effect is quiet enough for a bedroom and legible enough for a kitchen.

Three sizes are offered at roughly thirty, thirty-five and forty centimetres square. A silent quartz movement runs the hands, so there is no ticking in a quiet room, and it takes a single AA battery which is not supplied. The resin body is light for its size, so a single picture hook rated for a few kilos is usually sufficient depending on your wall. Set the clock against a wall with the hands at twelve before hanging, which makes it obvious if the frame is sitting straight.
