Squiggle Chrome Table Lamp

The stem of this lamp is bent into a loose squiggle before it straightens out to carry a small parasol shade, which turns an ordinary bedside light into something closer to a drawing in metal. The chrome is polished rather than brushed, so it picks up the colours of whatever is around it and keeps the outline crisp against a plain wall. White with black is the most graphic and suits a minimal scheme, plain white disappears more politely, and cream with white is the softest of the three neutrals. The shade sits low over the bulb and directs light downward, which makes this a good reading lamp despite the decorative stem. Polished chrome shows fingerprints, so keep a soft dry cloth to hand and avoid abrasive cleaners, which will dull the finish permanently.
