Sun and Moon Velvet Cushion

A shaped cushion rather than a square one with a picture on it: the sun has moulded rays around its edge and the moon a proper crescent, both in a soft velvet-touch fabric with a plush filling already inside. That means no separate insert to buy and no cover that never quite fits. Piled at the end of a bed or propped in a reading chair, the shapes do more work than another rectangle would.

Two sizes are offered. The twenty-five centimetre version is a small accent, good on a nursery shelf, a window seat or as the front piece in a stack of larger cushions. The fifty is a proper floor and sofa cushion, big enough to lean on and substantial enough to hold its shape rather than folding flat the first time someone sits against it. Sun and moon are sold separately, and they work as a pair.

The fabric is soft enough for a child's room, which is where these usually end up, and the shapes read equally well in an adult bedroom or a lounge corner. Care is spot clean only and air dry, so keep them off the floor in a room with a dog. These are decorative cushions and are not fire retardant, and loose cushions should be kept out of a baby's cot in line with safer sleep guidance.
