Sunflower Solar Garden Light

Planted among real flowers, this one keeps going after everything else has closed for the night. The head is shaped and coloured like an open sunflower, with layered petals around a lit centre, and it sits on a slim green stem that vanishes into a border. In daylight it reads as another bloom; after dusk it becomes a small warm point of light exactly where the planting is at its thickest.

Charging happens through a panel set into the back of the flower head, so nothing extra is on show. The light comes on by itself as the evening draws in and runs for around eight hours from a full charge, which comfortably covers an evening outside and the walk back down the path afterwards. No cabling means it can be moved as the borders change through the season.

The petals and stem are weatherproofed for permanent outdoor use, and the stake pushes easily into soft soil or a large container. Group three or five along a bed for a proper drift, or use a single stem to mark the turn of a path where a step needs picking out. Wipe the panel occasionally to keep the runtime up, and lift the stake before you turn the soil over in spring.
