Sunset Glass Wall Clock

Most wall clocks are a white disc you stop noticing within a week. This one is printed onto glass in a soft gradient, the sort of wash you get across the sky in the last twenty minutes of a summer evening, and the gloss surface gives it a depth that a matt face never manages. It works as a piece of colour on the wall first and a clock second, which is exactly the right order for a living room or bedroom.

Six colourways are available. The orange and blue-lilac washes are the warmest and read almost as small artworks; the cooler blue and white-blue options are more restrained and sit comfortably in a room that is otherwise neutral. Three of the six carry printed numerals for anyone who wants to read the time properly rather than approximately, while the others use bare hands against the gradient for the cleanest possible look.

Behind the glass is a standard quartz movement with a silent sweep second hand, so there is no ticking to notice at night. It hangs from a single fixing on the back and needs one AA battery, which is not supplied. Clean it as you would a mirror, with glass cleaner on a cloth rather than sprayed directly onto the face. Handle with care during hanging, as with any glass panel, and keep it clear of doors that swing hard.
