Tap Shaped LED Night Light

Shaped like a wall-mounted tap with the light appearing to pour from the spout, this is a novelty piece that happens to be genuinely useful. At ten centimetres wide and eight high it is small enough to sit above a basin, beside a bathroom mirror or along a hallway without dominating the wall, and the shape reads clearly enough to raise a smile without being crude about it.

Black and white finishes are available. White disappears against tiles or pale plaster and lets the light itself carry the joke; black is more graphic and works better against a dark wall or a coloured splashback. The body is moulded ABS with a polycarbonate cover over the LED, which keeps the surface smooth and easy to wipe clean.

The built-in LED draws three watts and produces about three hundred lumens, which is right for a night light rather than a primary light source. It is a plug-in fitting rather than hardwired, so no rewiring is needed, though a UK plug adapter may be required. It is not rated for use inside a shower enclosure or directly above a bath, and should be kept well out of bathroom zones 0, 1 and 2 in line with UK wiring regulations.
