Tufted Outdoor Seat Pad 85cm

Garden furniture is almost always harder than it looks in the catalogue, and a seat pad is the difference between an hour outside and twenty minutes. This one is eighty-five by forty-five centimetres, which is longer than a standard chair pad and is really sized for a bench, a two-seat garden sofa or a wide window seat, though it works folded over a single deep chair too.

The cover is polyester, chosen because it holds colour in sunlight better than cotton and dries quickly after a shower, and the filling is a soft wadding held in place by tufted stitching. The tufting is what stops the pad migrating into a lump at one end after a season of use, and it gives the surface a quilted look that suits both timber and metal furniture.

Four colours are offered: brown and grey for furniture that is already doing the talking, yellow for a lift on a plain patio, and blue for a cooler scheme. Hand washing is recommended rather than machine washing, and the pad should be dried fully before storing. Bring it in or under cover overnight rather than leaving it out in the rain, which will shorten its life considerably.
