Turlo Alabaster Swing-Arm Pendant Light

The Turlo hangs from a slim black arm that swings out from the ceiling plate, so the light can sit where it is actually needed rather than directly beneath the fixing point. A walnut-toned disc spans 36cm and caps a rounded imitation alabaster diffuser, and a small turned wooden ball marks the point where the drop meets the shade. The long horizontal arm and the fine vertical drop balance one another and give the fitting a quiet, drawn-out profile against a plain ceiling.

Light comes from an integrated LED set inside the imitation alabaster diffuser, which softens the output and carries the faint veining of the stone effect across the glow. The colour temperature is a fixed warm white 3000K, a tone suited to dining tables and evening rooms rather than close task work. The LED is fitted at the factory and rated for around 50,000 hours of use, so there are no bulbs to source, match or replace across the life of the fitting.

The swing arm earns its place where the existing ceiling point is not where the light should be: over a table set slightly off centre, along a kitchen island, or beside a chair in a corner. Set the arm position and the drop before you make the fixing final, and check the swing clears any nearby shelf or door. The walnut disc and the wooden ball take a dry cloth, and the diffuser is best wiped gently rather than cleaned with solvents or anything abrasive.
