Two Tier Glass Vase

A glass vase built in two stepped tiers, so the body swells out near the base, draws in, and swells again before the neck. The step catches the light differently on each level, which gives a plain glass vessel more to look at than a simple cylinder, and it holds a bunch of stems in a natural fan without any need for a frog or tape.

Two sizes are offered. The short version stands 20cm high with a 12.5cm body and a 7cm mouth, which suits a bedside, a bathroom shelf or a desk. The tall version is 25cm high with a 15.5cm body and a 9cm mouth, better for a mantelpiece, a hall console or the middle of a dining table.

Three finishes are available: clear, a soft yellow and a smoky grey. The clear glass disappears and lets the stems do the work; the tinted versions colour the water and hold their own even when empty. Hand wash in warm water and wipe dry with a cloth to avoid water marks; do not put it in a dishwasher. Glass can crack with sudden temperature change, so fill with tepid rather than hot water. Both sizes are equally happy holding pens, brushes or kitchen utensils rather than flowers.
