Up and Down Glass Wall Light 30cm

Thirty centimetres tall and twelve wide, this fitting sends light through open glass at both ends, so it lights the wall above and below itself in two clean cones. It is the most useful shape of wall light there is: it gives a room height without glare, and a pair either side of a fireplace or a bed will do most of the work of a ceiling light in the evening.

Six finishes are offered and they cover a wide range. Brass and black are the two most versatile, dark red and reed green are period colours that suit older houses, peach is softer and more contemporary, and bone is the palest of the set. The coated metal finish is matt rather than glossy on every option, which keeps the emphasis on the glass and on the light itself.

Three wiring options mean you can choose how the light is controlled. The hardwired version is the cleanest, the hardwired version with a pull chain adds local control without a wall switch, and the plug-in version with an inline switch needs no wiring at all. It takes an E27 bulb up to twenty-five watts and comes with a one point eight metre cable. Hardwired versions need a qualified electrician.
