Vairo Travertine Dome Pendant Light

The Vairo is a small pendant built from three honest materials. A dome of natural travertine caps an opal glass globe, and a turned walnut bead sits above it on a braided fabric cord. Nothing here is painted or plated to look like something else. Because the travertine is cut from real stone, the open pitting across the dome and the depth of the banding differ on every piece, so no two fittings are quite the same and the dome is worth looking at closely.

The opal glass below softens the light into a warm, even ball with no glare, which suits a fitting hung at eye level rather than up near the ceiling. The braided cord is part of the look rather than something to hide, and it measures 150 cm, with longer lengths available on request. The dome measures 15 cm across and the whole fitting stands 17 cm high. It takes one G9 bulb, which is not included.

At that size the Vairo hangs happily in a row of two or three over a kitchen island, or on its own beside a bed or in a hallway. It is hardwired and rated IP20, so it is for indoor use only and installation is best carried out by a qualified electrician. Wipe the stone and the glass with a dry, soft cloth; travertine is porous, so avoid household sprays and solvents on the dome.
