Velvet Flannel Throw Blanket

Flannel blankets are usually thin enough to be decorative and not much else. This one has weight to it: a dense flocked velvet pile on a polyester base, so it holds warmth properly and drapes over the arm of a sofa in heavy folds rather than sliding off in a sheet. The surface is genuinely soft rather than merely smooth, and it stays that way through washing instead of flattening after a month.

Four sizes are offered, which is unusual for a throw and useful in practice. The smallest works as a lap blanket on a chair or in a car; the largest covers a double bed as an extra winter layer or dresses the end of a made bed year round. Four colours are kept deliberately quiet, beige, grey, green and brown, so it sits alongside patterned cushions and existing upholstery without competing.

It is important to be clear that this is a plain textile blanket. It is not electric and not heated: there is no wiring, no element, no plug and nothing to switch on. It is machine washable at thirty degrees on a gentle cycle, and should be tumble dried on low or air dried flat. Keep it away from open fires and radiators, and do not use fabric conditioner, which mats the pile.
