Ventoro Arc Floor Lamp 165cm

An arc floor lamp does one job that no table lamp can manage: it puts light exactly where you are sitting without asking you to move the furniture. The Ventoro sweeps out from a weighted base on a slim walnut-toned stem, carrying a warm amber dome that hangs over a sofa arm or a reading chair. At 165cm tall with roughly a metre of horizontal reach, it lights a seat rather than a whole room.

The shade tilts and the arm extends, so the pool of light can be nudged forward for reading and pulled back for a softer evening glow. The amber acrylic diffuser takes the hard edge off the bulb and throws a low, honeyed wash rather than a bright disc. A foot switch on the cable means you never have to reach up into the shade, which matters when the lamp is standing behind a chair.

It takes a standard E27 screw-fit bulb up to 40W, so you can choose your own colour temperature and swap it years from now without hunting for a proprietary part. The metal body and acrylic shade wipe clean with a dry cloth. Left of a sofa, beside a bed or arched over an armchair in a bay window, it reads as a piece of furniture as much as a light.
