Veola Alabaster Wall Light

The Veola is built around a single slab of natural alabaster, cut into a rounded upright form and gripped by two slim matt black bars. Alabaster is translucent, so the stone itself becomes the shade: light travels through it and the natural veining shows as soft cloudy movement across the face of the fitting. The black metal keeps the outline graphic against the soft stone.

Two G4 lamps sit behind the stone, one at the top and one at the bottom, throwing light up and down the wall as well as through the alabaster. That gives a wall wash and a warm centre glow from one fitting. It measures 35cm tall, 10cm wide and projects 8cm, on a 15cm by 10cm backplate. Because alabaster is a natural stone, the veining and tone differ from piece to piece and no two are identical.

The shape reads well flanking a bed, a mirror or a fireplace, and a pair balances a bedroom, a hallway or a living room wall without needing a ceiling fitting. The shallow projection keeps it clear of a passing shoulder. It is hardwired and assembly is required, so a qualified electrician should install it. Dust the stone with a dry soft cloth and keep sprays and abrasive cleaners off the surface.
