The Verrow takes the oval bulkhead shape used on ships and workshops and keeps it honest. A black metal frame holds a ribbed glass lens, and a solid hood covers the top half so the beam is pushed downwards instead of sideways into windows. The ribs scatter the light evenly, which softens the glare without losing brightness at ground level. Unlit it reads as plain, useful hardware rather than a decorative lantern.

Rated IP65, the fitting is sealed against dust and against water jets from any direction, so it can go on an open wall that takes driven rain rather than needing shelter. The compact 21 cm by 10 cm body sits close to the wall, which matters on a narrow passage, a side return or a low doorway where a projecting lantern would be in the way.

The bulb is not included and the fitting is supplied to suit the destination: E27 (ES) on UK orders and E26 on US orders. That leaves the choice of brightness and colour temperature open, and a warm lamp keeps the ribbed glass looking soft rather than clinical. Fix it above a back door, along a passage or beside a garage, and wipe the lens down each season so the ribs stay clear.
