Water Lily PVC Entrance Mat

Doormats are usually either practical or good looking. This one manages both by printing an impressionist water lily study across a hard-wearing PVC surface, so the thing catching mud and grit at your back door is also worth looking at. The colours are soft greens, blues and pinks that read as a painting from a distance and disguise everyday dirt far better than a plain dark mat.

The construction is a dense PVC lattice just eight millimetres thick. That low profile is deliberate: the mat will not jam under an inward-opening door, which is the single most common reason a doormat ends up shoved to one side. The open structure traps water, mud, sand and grit below the walking surface, so what comes off your shoes stays off the hall floor.

The backing grips even when the mat is wet, which makes it usable around a bathroom, a patio door or a poolside as well as a front step. On any wet hard floor, take care stepping onto it and keep an eye on children and older visitors, as no mat removes the risk entirely. Cleaning is simple enough: shake it out, run a vacuum over it, or take it outside and hose it down.
