Wicker Shade Table Lamp

Open wicker weave over a simple frame, finished in either a mid brown or a paler beige, this is a lamp built for rooms with a country or coastal feel. The weave is loose enough that light escapes upward and downward as well as through the sides, which gives a much livelier effect on the wall behind than a solid shade would. It is a good way to add texture to a room without adding another textile.

Two finishes are offered. Brown is the darker and warmer of the pair and sits well against painted timber or a dark headboard; beige is lighter and almost disappears against a cream or off-white wall, letting the pattern of the weave do all the work. Both use the same frame and the same shade shape, so the choice is about tone rather than size or the amount of light produced.

Power is flexible, which is unusual at this price. A USB cable version runs from a power bank or a UK USB adapter, while the mains version is supplied on a European lead and needs a UK plug adapter. The fitting is E27 and takes bulbs up to five watts, with bulbs included. The light is not dimmable. Dust the wicker with a soft brush; a damp cloth will lift the fibres and roughen the weave.
