Woda Timber Slim Ceiling Bar

The Woda is a surface-mounted ceiling bar cut from solid light-toned timber with a slim acrylic diffuser channelled into its underside. Timber softens LED light in a way painted metal does not, and the grain reads as a warm line across a plain white ceiling rather than a piece of hardware bolted to it.

At 60cm long and only 4.5cm deep it sits almost flush, which makes it a workable answer for rooms with low ceilings where a pendant would be in the way. The LED strip is supplied fitted and offers three colour settings, so the same fixture can run warm for a bedroom in the evening and cooler for a study or corridor during the day. It runs on 11W, which keeps it inexpensive to leave on.

It suits rooms of roughly 5 to 10 square metres, and the long narrow shape follows a corridor or sits neatly over a desk or a bed rather than floating in the middle of a ceiling. Fitting is a hardwired surface mount and assembly is required, so a qualified electrician should carry out the installation and check the fixing line. Dust the timber with a dry cloth; the diffuser needs nothing more than an occasional wipe.
