Wood and Steel Towel Rail

A towel rail is one of the few bathroom fittings you touch every single day, so it is worth choosing one that feels considered rather than purely functional. This wall-mounted bar pairs a stainless steel body with a turned wooden end detail, softening the hard lines that dominate most bathrooms and giving a small room a point of warmth. The gold finish reads as brass in warm light and suits cream, stone and terracotta schemes, while the black version sits comfortably against white metro tile, dark grout and concrete-effect surfaces.

Two lengths are offered. The 50cm bar takes a full bath sheet folded once and is the natural choice beside a bath or a walk-in shower. The 40cm bar is easier to place in a cloakroom, above a radiator, or on the short run of wall next to a basin where a longer rail would crowd the mirror. Both use the same bracket depth, so the towel hangs clear of the wall and air can circulate behind it, which is what actually gets a towel dry between uses.

Stainless steel was chosen for the structure because bathrooms are humid and most decorative finishes fail there first. The bar wipes clean with a damp cloth, and the wooden detail should be dried after cleaning rather than left wet. Fixings are not supplied, since the right plug depends on whether you are drilling into plasterboard, tile or masonry.
