Wood-Effect LED Cube Alarm Clock

A 63.5 millimetre cube with a wood-effect finish and no buttons on the face, this bedside clock is designed to disappear into a nightstand rather than announce itself. The numerals sit behind the surface and read clearly across a dark room, while the controls are kept underneath so the front stays clean. At roughly 300 grams it has enough weight to stay where it is put.

Three separate alarms can be set, each ringing for one minute, which covers a weekday start, a weekend one and a reminder later in the day. The display carries the time in twelve or twenty-four hour form alongside the current temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit and the room humidity. Three brightness levels are selected by hand, so the clock can be bright on a desk and very dim overnight.

Power comes either from a USB lead or from four AAA batteries, which makes it as usable on a shelf as beside a bed. A power-saving mode blanks the screen automatically after fifteen seconds and brings it straight back with a clap or a light touch. Use a UK-approved USB adapter, and take the batteries out if it will be stored unused for a long period.
