Yunari Haze Rice Paper Lamp

The Yunari Haze is built around a hand-formed rice paper shade stretched over a slim frame, and it behaves the way paper lighting should: the whole surface glows softly rather than pushing a hard beam into the room. Colour is dyed into the paper itself, so lit or unlit the lamp holds its tone, and the slight irregularity in the surface is the point rather than a flaw.

It works at two heights. Stood on the floor beside a sofa or bed it reads as a low column lamp, throwing a pool of warm light at ankle-to-hip level that makes a room feel considerably softer in the evening. Placed on a side table or sideboard it becomes a table lamp with the same diffuse quality. One fitting, two very different jobs.

Six colourways run from quiet greys and blacks through to green, red, yellow and orange, so it can either recede into a neutral scheme or act as the single warm accent in a room. Assembly is tool-free and the frame is light enough to move between rooms as the seasons change.
