Aluminium Linear Dining Pendant

A dining pendant has one job, which is to put light on the table and keep it out of everyone's eyes. This one does it with a slim aluminium cylinder holding a recessed LED, so the source is set back inside the housing and the glare is cut before it leaves the fitting. The body is between forty-five and ninety centimetres long depending on configuration, and the whole thing is adjustable down to a metre and a quarter drop.

The single-head version suits a round table or a small island, hanging centrally and lighting a pool roughly the width of the table. The two-head version spreads the same idea along a rectangle, which is the right answer for a long dining table or a galley kitchen where one central point leaves the ends in shadow. Output is thirteen watts on the single and twenty-six on the double.

Two finishes are available. Black recedes against a dark ceiling and keeps the fitting almost invisible in daylight; gold catches the light along the length of the tube and gives the pendant a warmer presence over a table. Both are made from aluminium with ironwork detailing, and both are hardwired to an existing ceiling point rather than plugged in. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to source.
