The Ambro Amber Glass Wall Sconce from Lockhone hangs a hand shaped amber glass shade from a slim gold swan neck arm, mounted on a round walnut effect backplate. The glass is swirled rather than uniform, with darker ribbons of amber running through a lighter honey body, so the shade catches light even when the lamp is switched off and throws a warm, tinted pool when it is on.

The ruffled edge of the shade is formed while the glass is soft, which means the profile differs slightly from piece to piece. Three materials do the work here: glass for the colour, brass toned metal for the arm and fitting, and a walnut toned disc that softens the join with the wall. The result is a sconce that reads vintage without looking heavy, and at 15cm wide it projects only a short way into a room.

Ambro takes a single screw fit bulb up to 40W and works with a dimmer switch, so the light can be dropped right down for evenings. It suits a bedside, a hallway, a reading corner, a landing or either side of a mirror, and pairs well with walnut furniture, cream walls and brass hardware. Delivery takes 8-15 working days.
