Elegance Basin Mixer Tap

This is the plainer, slightly more architectural cousin of a standard basin mixer: a straight body, a squared-off lever and a spout that projects far enough to land the water in the middle of the bowl rather than against the back of it. That last detail is worth more than it sounds - a short spout over a wide basin means splashing every single morning.

Underneath the styling it is built properly. The body is a lead-free copper alloy, which really matters on a fitting that drinking water passes through every day, and the cartridge is a solid brass-bodied ceramic unit designed to seal cleanly and stop the slow drip that eventually stains a basin. The lever runs through a smooth arc with none of the notchiness of a worn tap, controlling both temperature and flow with one hand.

It mounts through a standard thirty to thirty-five millimetre hole and is supplied with hot and cold connections and the fixing hardware. Three finishes are offered - grey, silver and matt black. Measure your basin's tap hole before ordering, and if the tap is replacing an old pair of pillar taps, expect to need either a single-hole basin or a mounting plate to cover the second hole.
