Marble and Glass Table Lamp 23cm

A solid marble base carrying a small glass shade - two materials, no third, and no visible joinery between them. The weight is the first thing you notice and the reason the lamp feels expensive: marble does not move on a table, does not need a felt pad to stop it sliding, and holds its temperature, so the base stays cool even after hours of use.

Three stones are offered and they are genuinely different rather than the same block in three tints. Black is the most dramatic, with pale veining that catches the light from the shade above it. White is the quietest and the easiest to place. Green is the most unusual and the one that will date the lamp to now rather than to anywhere - it works best against wood, brass or a deep painted wall.

The lamp is 15 centimetres across and 23 tall, which makes it a bedside or console lamp rather than a floor-facing one, and it lights an area of five to ten square metres comfortably. The fitting takes a G9 LED capsule, not supplied, and runs at 110 to 240 volts on a 150 centimetre cord with an inline switch. Marble is porous: wipe spills promptly, avoid acidic cleaners, and use a soft dry cloth for dust.
