Painted Wood Wall Light 30cm

A wall light made almost entirely of wood, which is less common than it sounds - most so-called wooden fittings are a metal body with a veneer collar. Here the housing itself is timber, painted in soft colour so the grain still shows at the edges, and the effect on a plain wall is warmer and quieter than any powder-coated metal equivalent.

Six colours are offered and they are all muted rather than bright: yellow, white, green, grey, blue and rose. That range is deliberate. A wall light is seen at close quarters and lives with whatever is on the wall around it, so a soft colour will sit beside a picture frame or a headboard where a saturated one would fight it. Two in the same colour either side of a bed is the most common arrangement.

At 30 centimetres tall and 20 wide it is a substantial fitting rather than a token one, and it throws enough light to read by at bedside height. It takes an E27 bulb, not supplied, and runs at 220 volts. Mounting hardware is included. This is a hardwired mains fitting, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated first. Keep the fitting clear of curtains and do not fit in bathroom zones 0, 1 or 2.
