Travertine Recessed Ceiling Light 40cm

A recessed ceiling fitting faced in real travertine rather than a printed stone effect, which matters because travertine is porous and slightly irregular and light behaves differently across it. The pitted surface catches the LED at a shallow angle and gives the lit face a texture that no acrylic diffuser reproduces. It is a quiet piece of material honesty in a category that is usually all plastic.

At 40 centimetres across and 15 deep it is a substantial recessed fitting and wants a void above it to sit into - a plasterboard ceiling with a decent service gap, or a bulkhead. The obvious placements are an entrance hall or the head of a stairwell, where a hanging fitting is impractical and a flat panel would look cheap. Two in a row down a wide corridor works well. The trim is offered in natural wood or a darker brown.

The light source is a 24 watt integrated LED, chosen at order in warm white at 3000K, neutral at 4200K or cool at 6500K. Warm is the right answer for a hall; neutral suits a landing you also work on. Because this is a recessed hardwired fitting it needs both a structural opening and mains connection, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician with the circuit isolated. Dry locations only; not for bathroom zones 0, 1 or 2.
