Wall Lamp Pair with Fabric Shades

Wall lights sold singly are a nuisance, because they almost always want a pair. This set solves that by supplying two matched fittings, which is what you need either side of a bed, a mirror or a fireplace. Each is a slim metal arm with a fabric shade at the end, about sixteen centimetres across and fifty-eight tall, so they read as tall and narrow rather than squat.

The fabric shade is the reason to choose these over a bare bulb fitting. It diffuses the light rather than throwing it in one hard direction, which is what makes a wall light usable for reading in bed without glaring at whoever is next to you. Three brightness modes are built in, so the same fitting can be turned right down for ambient light or up for a task.

Three finishes are offered - black, silver and gold - and the fittings are hardwired rather than plug-in, running on a 110 to 220 volt supply. That gives a clean wall with no trailing cable, but it does mean the wiring needs to be brought to the right point. Have them installed by a qualified electrician, particularly if you are adding a new switched spur.
