Woven Bamboo Plant Basket Stand

Woven baskets bring something to a room that moulded pots cannot, which is the irregularity of a material that grew before it was made. This one is handwoven from bamboo in a chequered pattern, with the natural colour shifts of the canes left visible, and set on four short wooden legs that lift it a few centimetres clear of the floor. The result is relaxed rather than rustic, and it sits as comfortably in a modern room as a bohemian one.

Used as a plant stand it takes a potted fern, a monstera or a fiddle-leaf fig, hiding the nursery pot inside while letting the foliage do the work. Because the weave is open rather than sealed, keep the plastic grower pot in place or add a saucer so water is not running straight into the bamboo. Used away from plants, the same basket makes a good home for throws, magazines or firewood beside a hearth.

Three sizes are offered: twenty-one by eighteen centimetres, twenty-six by twenty, and thirty by twenty-three. Each is light enough to carry one-handed even when full, and the legs keep the base off a damp floor. Keep the basket out of direct sun for long periods, which fades the canes, and dust it with a soft brush rather than a wet cloth.
